Landscape Irrigator
A Landscape Irrigator (LI) license allows a person to sell, design, consult, install, maintain, alter, repair, or service an irrigation system, including the connection of such system to a private or public, raw or potable water supply or any water supply. This includes water wells in unincorporated areas of the state.
Irrigator Technician
An Irrigation Technician (IT) license allows a person to connect a landscape irrigation system to a water supply, including installing a backflow prevention device; and may maintain, alter, repair, service, or direct the installation of an irrigation system under the supervision of a licensed irrigator.
Irrigation Inspector
An Irrigation Inspector (II) is responsible for verifying that permits have been obtained. They can inspect the irrigation system, determine if the irrigation system complies with the rule requirements, determine if the appropriate backflow prevention device is installed, provide test results to the water purveyor, and investigate complaints.

- Complete 24 hours of continuing education
- Landscape Irrigation Program Conflict of Interest Affidavit
Renewal
- Licenses renewed with the TCEQ every 3yrs
- Complete CE hours prior to expiration
- Submit renewal application
- Submit criminal history attestation
- Pay renewal fee

Pursuant to H.B No. 1508, Brazos Valley Water Protection hereby informs you that:
- Specific criminal history can negatively impact or determine a person's eligibility to receive or renew an occupational license from TCEQ. Completing courses provided by Brazos Valley Water Protection in no way guarantees a person's eligibility to test for, be awarded or to renew an occupational license.
- TCEQ RG-521 contains the current guidelines that outline the consequences of having criminal convictions on your ability to obtain and hold and occupational license.
- Other guidance on occupational license denials, warnings, suspensions or revocations is provided to the TCEQ in 30 Tex. Admin. Code ยง 30.33.
- For those with any felony or misdemeanor convictions or deferred adjudications, please contact TCEQ Licensing Division for more information regarding a criminal history evaluation letter.
If you have failed to consult with the TCEQ or exercise your rights for review prior to this course, and are determined later to be ineligible for a license due to criminal history, you are not entitled to any refund or reimbursement by Brazos Valley Water Protection for course costs, fees associated with application or license, travel expenses or any other incidental expenses associated with attending this course.
